Girl vs. Video Games

Let me start by saying that I am very aware that girls play video games just as well if not better then boys, but I am just not one of those girls!  When I play first person shooters I die because I can't figure out how to use the head.  I get stuck in corners and I can't see anything and then BANG I'm dead.

I can honestly say I have only ever completed 3 games in my entire life. The first one was Mario Bros on the black and white game boy.  The next two were Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 on the PS2 (borrowed, not even mine).  I have attempted to complete other games before and others after those games, but I have total game ADD.  I start a game and I get totally addicted to and just can't stop playing it.  I skip sleeping, I skip meals, and of course I skip hanging out with real people to spend time with these imaginary ones.  I do love making my little people.  I get attached to my little people.  If they die I get sad.  Like really sad!  I have attachment issues, and when something bad happens to them I take it personally.  If my character dies I need time to cope before I can try again.  It's a healing process really.  Now, because I care so much about my little people, I prefer to see them through the whole game.  Which is really the second reason I hate those first person games.  I do, however, like to cheat.  I don't google cheat codes or anything.  In fact, I wouldn't know what to do with the codes even if I did have them.  If I can find a way to over power my character I will do it.  I know there's geek speak for that but I'll have to ask one of the boys.  The problem is that in doing the same thing over and over again I get bored.  On top of that I don't want to move on until my little guy is ready to fight.

Some people have told me that I just need to get on the right system to find my video game mojo...  I'm still waiting for that system to be created!  The buttons all make sense and when they're teaching the basics I'm amazing.  Then starts the real game and it all goes to hell.  I suddenly forget which buttons do what and I have to then use my back up plan instead.  My back up plan is simple.  If I keep lunging forward with my body eventually my character will get the hint and follow suit.  I'm still working on this part.  Obviously I am not a video game expert.  In fact I'm sure it's clear that when it comes to this stuff I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing.  So then why did I share all this with you?  Honestly?  No reason.  Video games are geeky and this is a geek show.  That's it!

Until next week... Keep it geeky!
